Flowered Bookmark

Recently I got out my layered flower die from Papertrey Ink, and made a couple of flowers for a card idea. There was one assembled flower leftover, and I decided it would make a nice topper for a bookmark.

I used a MFT die for the bookmark layers, embossing the bottom layer with a folder for some nice texture.

I don't know what it is about bookmarks, but I sure like making them. This one is going into a box until I decide who to gift it to.

Felt Wreath Christmas Cards

Yay! I get to play along with '52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown' this week! The embellishment challenge was to use felt. I can do that!

In fact, I can do that three times.  :-)

I've not been able to get into my studio much the past couple of weeks, so I'm always happy when I get a chance to play along with my favourite challenges.  These cards aren't overly creative, but they are festive and I'm happy with them.

I added some glitter glue to the felt wreath's, smearing it around with my finger. Since the red patterned paper has so much shimmer to it, I thought the wreath's needed a little somethin' somethin.

Monkey Love Note

I have another card to add to my collection of Love Notes (cards to mail to our Grandbabies when we are away).

I am keeping them simple - and using images that they can recognize.  This one is a 4.25" card, so it fits into a standard A2 envelope.  I edited this photo at the same time as one earlier and used the wrong watermark on the photos. I used my loom knitting blog instead of this one, but decided to just use the pictures instead of redoing everything.  :-)

Painted Daisy Card

I have a cheerful get well card to share today:

I used a background stamp that was inked with a dye inkpad then lightly spritzed with water before stamping it on the white panel.

I used the same technique on the flower after it was die cut and stamped. This is an A2 card, and it went right into my stash. I like to have get well cards on hand, it makes it easier to be able to send a quick note to someone who is under the weather.

Doggie Love Note

I have been away from my studio, so haven't had much to share lately. Today's share is a quick and easy card ... a 'Love Note' that I can send to our Grandbabies when we are away. I want them to know the excitement of receiving some Real Mail as many of their friends will never know that feeling in this age of email, messaging, Face Time and Skype.

Haha, I can see I added the wrong watermark to these pictures - I used my knitting blog info instead of this one. But if I take the time now to re-do it I won't have any computer time left!

I think these dog stamps (from Inkadinkadoo) are so fun and this one will make Olivia shout "puppy puppy puppy".

I penned the words inside, and added some different shades of green chalk to select words.  It was a fast and easy card, using scraps from my Odds & Sods pile. Even the scallop label was in the pile, so I don't know which Cricut cartridge it came from.

Shower Card

I have a card to share today that I made for a friends daughter's Wedding Shower:

I Cricut cut the Bride & Groom with the 'Stretch Your Imagination' cartridge out of lightly patterned paper, and used layers of foam tape on the matts. I really liked the clean and crisp look of the card so opted not to add any ribbons or other embellishments.

Birthday Gifts

While I haven't been making as many cards as usual, I have been busy in my studio doing little things. I have made quite a few bookmarks and other little things that I just haven't posted. For example, I had fun decorating packages for my friends birthday gifts.  We had a joint birthday 'party' here as the three of us celebrate birthday's somewhat close together.

So - nothing too fancy, but it still took me a whole evening to get them finished. The bookmarks (other than the one I shared here) took awhile to make as well, but most of them won't end up shown here on my blog. I am having fun though!

Valentine For My Hubby

I made a spinner card for my hubby this year for Valentine's Day:

Sorry the pictures are so blurry!

This is such a cute stamp - and I don't use it nearly enough.  I'm going to have to change that!

Square Doggie Card

I didn't think I'd have the chance to play along with Seize the Birthday this week, but all of a sudden I had a spare 1/2 hour and I managed to get a card made!  Here is the sketch; this week they are looking for a masculine card.  (I know, I should have saved this for Masculine Card Monday).

I have already made several cards with this sketch - Easter cards!  It's a really versatile sketch, ha ha.   This time I opted to go with a 4 1/4" square card:

I've had this set of dog stamps for ages, and have only used one of them - once. Time to remedy that - they are SO fun!

I didn't add anything to the inside, because what I stamp inside will depend on who I'm using the birthday card for. I will add it when I go to send the card.

The card fits into a standard A2 envelope, which I also stamped with the same dog and the bone across the bottom.

Valentine ATC's

I included 2 ATCs with Sue's February First mailing** using bits and pieces from my stash. I get out of the swing of making ATC's, but when I do start again I remember how much I enjoy the smaller canvas.

**For those new to my blog, my friend Sue and I pop something in the mail to each other the first of each month.

Valentine Treats for the family

I decided to give my family a little treat for Valentine's Day:

I bought some large chocolate bars in fun flavours (salted caramel, cookie dough chunk etc) and simply wrapped them with red patterned paper from my stash.

The hearts were die cut and embossed with a 'Love Hearts' folder before attaching to the papers. I also used a scalloped circle and tag punch, then hot glued a silk rose to each heart. I have had a package of those ribbon roses for a couple of years and never used them so I thought it was time.

All in all I made a dozen of these fun little treats. They didn't take that long which is good since the wrapper will likely be tossed so the chocolate can be quickly enjoyed.  :-)

Valentine Anniversary Card

Happy Valentine's Day!  Today is also my parents wedding anniversary, so I wanted to share the card I made for them.

It's a 5x7" card, in a lovely buttery yellow with a matching envelope. I used an embossing folder to add texture to the envelope for a little touch of elegance and there are lots of layers and dimension the card as it was hand delivered.  I used the same rose sticker on THIS anniversary card, although that card was much more CAS (Clean And Simple).

I layered up the inside as well, using some of the same sparkly red paper. I punched hearts out of the cream panel so the red sparkle shows through in those areas.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Hybrid Valentines

These are the Valentine cards I made for our Grandkids ...

Once again I used graphics from Lettering Delights to create the image panels, then printed them out on 4x6 glossy photo paper with my Epson PicureMate photo printer. I love how they look on glossy paper.

I barely nicked the sides with a small hole punch, then tied bakers twine around the panels. The little notches keep the twine nice and snug.

Even though these were quick and simple to make, I think they turned out pretty cute.

Action Wobble Valentines

I was feeling pressed for time, so decided to try and keep my 2013 Valentine's somewhat simple this year.  These two were made for my parents to give our Grandkids. I used clip art from Lettering Delights to create the image/words, and printed them out on my (fabulous) little Epson PictureMate photo printer.

I cut the 4x6 glossy panels with a Stampin' Up/Spellbinders label die, then used Action Wobbles to attch them to the printed paper panel. They wobble and bob and are just plain fun!

The sweet owl got some stamped dots (Stamps by Judith) and sparkle.

I know the kids are going to enjoy these.   :-)))

Doggie Birthday Card

Last week I shared the birthday card I made for our Son In Law. Today, for Masculine Card Monday I have the card I made for my parents to give him.

I used a sketch (Freshly Made #65), and the dog image ended up being very suitable as they went dog sledding in Canmore for his birthday!

A little glossy accents on the nose of the pup (I just can't help myself); he was coloured with water colour pencils then fussy cut.

Both the inside of the card and the envelope were stamped with a rectangle frame and dots (Stamps by Judith) and then I stamped the words inside.

Simple Valentine Cards

I kept my Valentine's nice and simple this year -these ones feature printed acetate embellishments, matted layers and a bit of ribbon. Easy Pasy.

I had picked up the package of embellishments (K&Co) on clearance a couple of years ago and it was fun to pull them out and actually USE them.
