Floral Easter Card

This is the final Easter card I have to share this year, but it is going to start my stash for next year. I cracked open a package of K&Co 3d floral stickers, and made several cards using them. This flower sticker was perfect for an Easter card!

I even used a yellow card base.

Yellow!

Me!

I don't 'do yellow'. Or at least I didn't, but all of a sudden yellow is starting to grow on me. Go figure.

I haven't added a stamped verse yet, as I'm still hoping to get a great Easter verse ordered. The iris was punched out of the white panel before attaching it inside the card.

Happy Easter to all that celebrate it.

Hybrid Easter Card

Today I'm sharing the Easter cards I mailed out this year:

The inside and decorated panel were created in Photoshop with a digital scrapbooking kit, and printed onto smooth white card stock. The 'bunny chick' was stamped onto the same white card stock, coloured with Copic markers, then cut out with a Spellbinders label. It was popped up with foam tape onto the printed panel.

I added 'hand painted' digital shadows to the elements before printing for realism - but I have a confession to make. I did all the printing a long time ago ... and now I have no idea who the designer of the digi kit is, or where I even got it. I had an accidental wipe of my external hard drive that contained all my digital kits.

All I needed to do to finish the cards was to assemble the printed pieces and stamp/colour/cut the 'bunny chick'.  These are A2 sized cards, and I loved how they turned out.

Easter Puppy Card

I'm back today with a fun little Easter card, using a couple of 'Stamps By Judith' images.

The basket (Printworks) was stamped first, then masked for the rest of the images. Colouring was done with water colour crayons and a damp paintbrush. The greenery around the puppy is actually the top of a carrot.  :-)

Easter Sketch Cards #4 & 5

Here are the final Easter cards I made using an older sketch from Seize The Birthday.  I made them the same as my earlier ones, this time substituting the butterflies for some lovely chipboard birds from my stash.

These ones are a little bulkier because of the chipboard embellishment, so the envelopes will have to be lined with thin foam sheets or card stock. I don't end up hand delivering too many Easter cards, they all go out in the mail.

Both of the cards are larger, 6.5 x 5".

Chick Easter Card

My Mom asked me to make her some Easter cards to send out, so I came up with this sweet and simple design:

The chick was Cricut cut from 'A Child's Year' cartridge - one from white and one from yellow. Since there was no shadow option when cutting, I offset the white one a little.

Easter Sketch Cards, #2 & 3

Obviously I loved that sketch from 'Seize The Birthday'  -- enough that I made several Easter cards using it. Here are two more - same sketch, just slightly different embellishments. The paper is so pretty and perfect for Easter, why mess with a good thing?  :-)

These cards are larger than A2, they are 5 x 6.5". I thought I would add a little Easter banner, and after doing one this way I decided I liked it better across the bottom of the doily.

I love how the acetate butterflies catch the light!

As much as I love this patterned paper, I've had it for so long I'm just happy to be using it up. With any luck, I'll be ready for some NEW designs by next Spring.

Fuzzy Bunny Easter Card

When I was poking around in my sticker stash (yes, I have one of those too) I came across a sheet of fuzzy stickers. I had used several of them to make a lamp cover for our Granddaughter's nursery, a few more for birthday cards, and the rest went into the drawer. I thought the bunny would be perfect for an Easter card.

This is another large card - a full 5 x 7! The peach Astroparche card base is from a package I've had for at least 12 years.  It's a hard colour to match up, but worked really well with this bunny.

It's sure hard to find Easter verse stamps ... I have one or two and use them year after year. Or I print verses from the computer. I guess there must not be too much of a demand for them, but I am going to search on-line so maybe I'll have better luck with the inside of next year's Easter cards.  This one will probably have a handwritten greeting.

Easter Sketch Card #1

Weeks and weeks ago, I mentioned loving the recent sketch at Seize The Birthday, but that I used it to make several Easter cards. It was the perfect sketch to use up some of this pretty patterned paper that has been in my stash far too long.

The card is large, 5 x 6.5, and I used a MFT doily die for the fancy circle. The acetate butterfly embellishment is by K&Co, as is the paper.

A thin piece of foam tape right along the underside of the butterfly body keeps it raised up and the wings loose.

Butterfly Bookmarks

I knew I'd be away from my studio for the next little while, but I wasn't expecting to be away from my computer too. Luckily I had some posts scheduled or you would have thought maybe I fell off the face of the earth!

It's no secret that I love dies.  Love 'em. I love that I can cut several at one time and also cut through  different materials if I use a Sizzix die.  Here are a couple of quick bookmarks I made using dies (MFT) and the Stampin' Up butterfly punch:

I was using this pretty K&Co paper to make some Easter cards and didn't want to just toss the leftover strips. Bookmarks were the perfect solution!

The center section is popped up, but I used the Stampin' Up Dimensionals instead of regular foam tape. They add height without adding too much height, and are nice and soft so they shouldn't damage book pages.

Into my stash with these ones, and I will send them out next Easter.

Little Bunny Easter Card

In addition to the chick sticker that I shared on yesterday's card, the package came with this adorable bunny sticker. I used it to make our Grand-daughter an Easter card:

Various punches and dies were used to create the scalloped square and landscape, then I added the stamped dots afterwards.

Miss Olivia is going to love this, even if it isn't a puppy.  (She loves loves LOVES puppies).

Little Chick Easter Card

Last Spring we were visiting Phoenix, and I picked up this package of adorable felt stickers. I used one for our Grandbaby Ethan's Easter card this year:

I used dies to create the little landscape, then mounted everything to a scalloped square then to the front of the yellow A2 card base.

The little chick is very fitting, since this year our daughter has four actual chicks they want to raise for eggs!!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I have a pen pal in Wisconsin who is Irish, and every year I send her a St. Patrick's Day card. This is the one I sent to her for 2013:

I punched 3 hearts from scraps of green patterned paper, then attached them onto a hand cut stem. I left a 'circle' at the top end of the stem so I'd have something to attach the hearts to. Then, I outlined it with my Sakura gel pen for a bit of shimmer & shine.

It was a fun card to make, and I know she will love receiving it.

Love Gift Card Holder

This is the gift card holder I added to our Daughter and Son-in-Law's Anniversary card:

I used a Sizzix die to cut the A2 card out of 2-sided scrapbook paper - I love the way it holds a gift card that is still on it's cardboard backing. You just tuck the gift card inside and fold up the card, tucking in the flap.

I wrapped a piece of chipboard with crumpled tissue to create the little gift embellishment, and the word 'love' is a rub-on.

Pansy Easter Card

I have a sweet and simple Easter Card to share today ...

I cut down a 12x12 sheet of pansy paper and made several different cards with the panels. Most of the cards have been posted already, but this one I made into an Easter card.

I love coordinating punches and stamps (or die cuts and stamps!)

Merry Monday #53 Card

I really liked the latest Merry Monday sketch at Always Playing With Paper - especially that it was such a quick and easy one!

The shimmery gold label was sitting on my stamping table, and it matched the strip of shimmery patterned paper really well. I pulled out my K&Co 3-d sticker embellishments, and added the poinsettia. The 'merry' was die cut out of red textured card stock and I added narrow strips of foam tape to pop it up.

This is a large, 6.5 x 5" card, and goes right into my stash for 2013. Which is the whole point of the 'Merry Monday' challenge!

Sue's February First

I have not yet shared Sue's February 1st mailing ...

Sue lives in a city a couple of hours away from me, and the first of each month we pop something into the mail for each other.

I wanted to make her a sweet little Valentine, using the Tim Holtz Gingerbread man die.

We are going to have to take a break for our mailing until probably June, due to time constraints. I am just not able to get into the studio for the next while.

Blue & Red Christmas Card

I thought it was time to share a Christmas card.  :-)

The blue swirly paper is embossed and sparkly, as are the trees on the paper strip at the bottom. So I outlined the white label with my Sakura gel pen for additional shimmer and shine.

A cheerful A2 sized Christmas card that will probably go into the pile I'm making for my Mom.  She usually orders about 40 Christmas cards so I like to get them done ahead of time.

Dynamic Duo's #43

Today's colour challenge at the Dynamic Duo blog feature two of my very favourite colours to work with. I LOVE this combination, and could make card after card after card using it.

While those colours just make me happy, I went with a Sympathy card. How is that for ironic?

That fabulous background stamp is one I picked up last year at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show - it's by BJ's Rubber Stamps. I inked it up then LIGHTLY spritzed it with water to combine the blue and green inks.

Since I was SO pleased with the card, I made a happier one using the same images but swapping out the sentiment.

If I had time today, I'd be in my studio all day working with these colours. But ... this is it for me, as Real Life is about to cut into my stamping time. :-)
