'Hot Chocolate' Kit, Cards 4 & 5

Today for Masculine Card Monday, I have two more cards to share made using the Fancy Pants scrapbook kit 'Hot Chocolate'. I made them into masculine birthday cards instead of Christmas ones.

I still made them pop up cards though, using my Pop 'N Cut die with the Wavy Label insert and coordinating Framelits.

The primitive stars were cut using a Sizzix die, and the words are by Papertrey Ink.

I added a strip of kraft card stock for a place to pen a note and sign the card. I also tried to 'float' the smallest star with a strip of acetate, but I didn't place it right so it doesn't really 'float'. Those Glue Dots are truly an aggressive adhesive, and there was no moving the star once I had it on. Sheesh.

Heather's Birthday Card 2013

I have a Sizzix  Pop 'N Cut card to share today - this one is for our daughter's birthday. She took up gardening this past summer, and her little family has been enjoying fresh veggies from her garden all season.

You KNOW I had to make a Pop Up card ... I'm having trouble making 'flat' cards anymore!

Heather has red hair, so this little farm girl sticker is just perfect! Not to mention adorable.

I know she is going to love these words, which were also a sticker from the same scrapbooking kit as the patterned papers.  (Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes.)

I die cut the label (Sizzix), inked the edges and stamped the words (PTI) before attaching it inside the card.

I love making such personalized cards, and I know Heather is going to get a kick out of this one.

Birdhouse Flip-It Card

It's Friday, and I have a Flip-It Card to share today...

I sure enjoyed making this one, with it's soft colour palette.  The birdhouse was Cricut cut using the Serenade cartridge, and I added details with a Sakura gel pen for some sparkle. The leaves were done with a Stampin' Up embosslet die and I added some shimmer with the gel pen and clear embossing.

I don't get to use my Sizzix 'Birds on a Wire' die strip very often, so I was happy to pull it out for this card.  The words are by Papertrey Ink, and the label is a Stampin' Up punch. I sure get a lot of use out of that punch!

Once again I used those sweet banners (Sizzix die & stamp set) with a little Bakers Twine bow.

I have several 4x6 cards cut out for birthday cards to donate to Senior's Secret Service, but once I'm finished those I think I'll make a bunch of Sizzix Flip-It Cards for them.

Bright and Cheerful Card Trio

I have three cheerful cards to share today ...

The first two have 'Wishing You' on the front, and I stamped 'A Happy Birthday' inside.  The third has a birthday verse as well, and all three were in the box of Birthday cards I donated to Senior's Secret Service last week.

The butterflies for both cards were punched or die cut several times and layered with Bakers Twine for bodies and antenna.

This scalloped card is an A6 size, while the orange one is the standard A2.

The third card is an A2 card with no words on the front.  I really tried to step out of my box and use a bright coloured card stock for the card bases. I still don't know how I feel about it as I find it a little jarring. I usually like it when others do it but I guess it's just 'not my thing'.

Sue's Birthday Card 2013

Today's share is the Birthday card I made for my friend Sue. You KNOW I had to make her a card using Sizzix Pop 'N Cut dies.   :-)

At first I was going to leave the front of the card plain, since all those little scooters were so darned cute...

But in the end I couldn't do it, so added a stamped greeting to a paper banner...

Here is a peek at the inside - using lots of elements from a scrapbook kit I had in my stash.

I cut some scrap paper into a gift box, tied it with Bakers Twine and attached it to the back of the scooter. It is a Birthday card, after all.

The stamping I did do on the card, was done using Papertrey Ink birthday images.

Masculine Birthday Cards

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I used the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches to make NINE mascline birthday cards to donate to 'Senior's Secret Service'.

Nothing like a good sketch to make creating multiples a breeze. Not to mention the Design Team sample by Jennifer Brum that I CASE'd.  :-)

I used striped paper for some of the card bases ...

Again, since the cards won't be going through the mail I was free to add bulky embellishments like big buttons and twine.  :-)

I also made some out of plaid paper...

The insides are all done the same, adding a stamped panel for stablity ...

Wild Rose Birthday Cards

Last year I found out about an organization that gives Birthday and Christmas gifts to isolated Senior's, so my friends and I put together a few cards. I somehow thought I missed the deadline though, so didn't do much more about it until the beginning of the month THIS year.

Turns out, Seniors Secret Service (click HERE for information on the organization) is low on birthday cards now and they were more than happy to accept our donation. If you follow my blog, you know I make a lot of cards! I went through my stash and pulled anything that would work for a Birthday card. Then I stamped a birthday greeting in every single one.

On Friday, I delivered 142 cards to the Seniors Secret Service office. 142!!  They give out an average of 200 a month though, so my efforts wouldn't even get them through this month.  I've decided to help out by continuing to make them Birthday cards.

Here are the first three that will go into the next box:

I mistakenly ordered A4 envelopes awhile back, so this is a perfect opportunity to use them! Most of the cards I plan on making will be 4x6", and fit in those envelopes perfectly. Plus, I can get three 4x6" folded cards out of a single sheet of 12x12" paper!

Because the patterned paper isn't sturdy enough for a card base (I don't like a 'wussy' card), I lined these ones with white card stock.

I added glitter glue, gems, ribbon and stamped & punched butterflies.  Since the cards will be attached to the gift bags (also filled with donations) and hand delivered (by volunteer drivers), I can go ahead and add bulky embellishments like bling and ribbon knots & bows. Woo Hoo!

I have added a 'Seniors Secret Service' label to my blog as well, in case anyone is interested in looking at the different cards I'm donating.

Sorry about the cut off watermark on some of the photos. I'm still figuring out Lightroom and obviously ticked a box I shouldn't have.  I edited a bunch of card photos in the same batch though and I'm thinking they will all have the same problem.  Gotta love a learning curve!

Thanksgiving Snail

I had to come up with two Thanksgiving cards for my parents to give their Great Grandkids, but I don't own a single cute Thanksgiving image.  I decided to use the cute snail from 'The Stamps Of Life' and the card turned out pretty cute!

The 'ground' was hand cut from a scrap of card stock and embossed with a leafy embossing folder for texture. I punched a bunch of leaves from scrap patterned papers and sprinkled them around the fussy cut, paper pieced snail (snails2mail).  I used the clouds2cut set for the clouds ... I'm cloud obsessed these days.

The words inside are by Verve, and I added another punched leaf.  Only one more cute Thanksgiving card to come up with this year ...

Teddy Bear Flip-It Card

It's Friday and I have another Sizzix Flip-It card to share today.

The paper and teddy bear embellishment are all by K&Co ... that little bear is just so sweet.

The words inside are by Stampin' Up.  This Flip-It card is is backed on both sides with cream card stock for stability.
